2000-2009
I want to start off by saying that if your were conceived in the 1980s going into the early and mid 1990s and you're still alive, you need to get on your knees and thank GOD JEHOVAH THE ALMIGHTY for he has a reason for you still being here.If you don't believe in GOD still be gratefull that you are here. My generation a.k.a the lost generation entered the new millenium under fear of the y2k millenium bug which would crash computer systems down and in turn end the world. It turned out to be excuse my french a bunch of bullshit. The lost generation has seen planes go into buildings, war, rise in poverty, anthrax, snipers, steady rate of gun violence, acts of terrorism and much more destruction in this world. But I want to focus on my young urban youths whether African American,Hispanic, or Middle Eastener we have lost so much in just a few years.Do you know how it feels for a babysitter to read the news and find out that the baby that they use to babysit was gunned down at the age of thirteen???or how it feels to have gone to high school with friends who later were gunned down in a school yard for no appearent reason if you do not know consider yourself blessed.I remember the age limit in "the hood" for males was 25,Im sure we can all agree that it has changed to 18.2000-2009 introduced the bring a gun and your boys to a fair fight policy, and that policy took more of our homies, brothers, sisters, and neighbors out than cancer and AIDS.We lived in an era where fighting wasn't enough you had to take a life to be satisfied in beefing. Most of my friends and yours are dead, locked up,in a gang,or doing real bad and need serious help. The cemeteries have more young folks buried underneath the earth than they do elderly people and most of them were put there by a bullet or knife. In recent news lets us not forget about that 16 year old boy Derrion Albert who was killed during an afterschool fight in Chicago.16 years cut down very short due to violence. They have been marching and preaching since the mid 80s for violence amongst the youth to stop its 2009 going to 10 only GOD can stop it now.I can truly understand why older people feel sorry for our generation which is not a surprise...but what about the one that is coming after us???
